Ahh i think i know what you are talking about.
Is it full of tight spots? Turn by like 8th of a turn and you have to fight it, then its smooth again? Its probably because now your steering shaft comes togeather in an elbow shape.
The only way to surely fix this is by buying a new, longer steering shaft that has actual u-joints on eaither end of it.
You can use PA's methods for trying to correct it, which helps, but your steering will never be the same again.
1) Find the steering column under the dash, there should be a ring around the end of the column before the flange on the firewall. Loosen this (or remove im my case) and that should free up the steering a bit.
2) If step one wasnt enough, the next method is to actually lower the steering flange at the end of the steering column under the dash. PA says to do this by oblonging out the bolt holes for the flange, upward. This way you can pull the flange down and bolt it on at a lower position. When i tried to do this, i saw no feesable way to make this easy, other then litterally unbolting 4 of the 6 (?) screws holding the flange on, and leaving the other two finger tight. With the shaft in an ebolt shape, it doesnt want to stay in one spot, this allowed the flange to move up and down with the shaft. This actually stopped the steering from binding, but now i was left with extremely loose steering. This was due to the fact the steering extention isnt exactly a tight fit into the steering shaft to begin with. Tightning it down works for so long, eventually the thing gets loose and stays loose.
3) Call up flaming river and tell them you need a 14" EZ-fit slip shaft, i have the dimentions for the yokes in another thread, you might wanna measure them yourself to make sure they are the same, but im pretty sure all the RBV's of this generation have the same output shaft and steering gear.
