I recently installed the 853 BL and put my x on 32s. It performed great off-road, but these past few day’s I’ve run into an issue. My steering is abnormally tight at certain points. I turn the wheel 20-30 degrees and it becomes tight, then eases up over the next 25 degrees. I have no idea what might be causing this, but I figured I’d ask before I started taking things apart. Any help would be appreciated.

I jacked up the front end today, and there wasn’t any play in the front tires. It’s all tight. Does ANYONE have any ideas?

Did you install the steering shaft extension that comes with the body lift? I hate those things
Tight steering at certain points usually means some sort of "binding" is happening which is not good in a steering system
It could also be the power steering line is getting pinched?
Let us know!

I did use the steering extension. I checked it when I read your message and its holding up so far. If you don’t mind me asking, why do these steering extensions bother you? I don’t mean to challenge your knowledge, I would like to know. I’m 18 and my x was given to me as a project truck, since it was running really rough when I got it. Anyways, any information would be awesome. (Also vroom, there’s a million miles between the steering shaft and the manifold). I’m gonna inspect the steering components further to see if there’s anything obvious.

As it turns out (haha turns, cause steering? No? Ok sorry), The boot on the lower steering joint was ripped and was letting crap in. Cleaned it out, fixed the boot, greased it, and now it’s free of all tightness. Looking forward to getting back out onto some trails
