Hey guys!(or gals) I was wondering if any of you have ditched the IFS and bolted on a straight axle on a 1997 explorer, limited edition with a 5.0L A/T. I want to know what parts from several different vehicles will fit, like is it possible an axle from early bronco will fit, etc. I want to keep the ABS as well,if ya'll don't think so,just let me know! and what kind of steering set-up I can use, like a dummy rack and pinion just to use the pressure to run rams and what kind of track bar set-up to use. Either method of suspensions is fine to me either springs or coil overs. I was planning on as well swapping out awd transfer for true 4wd transfer, possibly stock case and beefed up internals. All I really need is list of parts that will fit,the rest I will git don'. I greatly appreciate anybodies effort for their help on the build-up that will take awhile to collect the parts, but will git don'. Thanx,Jason E. from Coatesville,PA :exp:

Haven't seen one on a limited but there are tons of SAS swapped 2nd gens.. Look in the Solid Axle Swap registry..

heh, another from my neck of the woods. There are many running around here, just search. Basically, yes to everything you can do whatever you want as long as you have the time/skill/money.

how much lift do you want to run? what size tires u want to end up with? as for a steering box i used one out of a 94 explorer... thats probably the cheapest route.

I would suggest the transfer case either at the same time or before the SAS, an solid axle AWD would be kinda pointless....
