I just purchased a Pyramid subwoofer wth rms 250 and 400 max watts to replace existing 8" sub. I wont recieve it for a couple weeks but do you guys think its too much wattage or i will be good?

There have been a few people who put a 10" in the stock enclosure. Just modify it to fit, drill new holes, make sure the magnet will have enough room. You might need a spacer. Then check the rms on the speaker make sure it isnt too high for the stock 85w rms amp. My amp is 85w and my 8" kenwood is rated for 150. And it sounds pretty good.

Make your decision from there. If I were you I would pick up this speaker. Fits really good and has been tested with the stock amp over and over again.

If money is the problem just use the 10" you got from a friend and make it fit. You will be fine. ;)

I did exactly that - got the JBL and just put it in the stock enclosure (drilled new holes) and added an aftermarket amp to power it - installed that where the stock amp was as well - I used all the stock housing and everything else - although, I think I removed the foam backing that was in there - may have added some dynamat. It sounds incredible when all is said and done. It was not easy, but well worth the cost and the work.

Just wanted to say this setup just saved my entire system from being stolen. The thief tried to steal the explorer, when that didn't work, he took the head unit. I'm sure if he would have known about the amp and sub they'd be gone too! The system works!!! :D

I just finished installing a 6.5 subwoofer in the stock enlosure of my 97 EB. It was a very easy replacement only to pop out the screen grill, unscrew oe sub and install new sub in existing opening. I had to drill out screw holes a little wider but otherwise very simple upgrade. I ordered the pyramid 6.5 8ohm 200 watt sub from amazon. $17 plus shipping.
