I just bought a sunvisor and the screws are supposed to go right into the roof. I have had problems with my windshield leaking in the past, and I want to know if there is something to put on the screws to seal up any gaps so that water will not leak in. I have heard of lock tite but I am pretty sure that is to secure the screws so they dont come loose from vibration. Any suggestions would help, because I am a little scared to drill into my roof. Since it is close to the windshield that leaked. Please, any suggestions would be appreciated. Sam

i heard something about some type of silicone or something to put on it, anyone know what kind or if this is correct?? where to buy what to ask for?

bump??? no one on here knows what to put on a screw to seal it up/ waterproof it?? some product ???

glue?

The pointy side of the screw is still insided the vehicle cabin. It won't leak water. At least that is how the factory visors mount up. If you aren't using the factory holes then you might want to pull back the headliner to get a look at what you are drilling into.

Are you talking about an outside visor? Kind of like a hat brim over the windshield? You can get silicone sealer at Home Depot and Lowe's. I would think to put a nice bead on the thread of the screw when screwing it into the roof. I know for installing shower doors, that when you screw into the tub and walls you're suppose to do this to keep things sealed up. Would most likely work the same way with screwing through the roof. Otherwise, if it's an inside visor, I don't know what to do.

no its an outside sunvisor like a hat brim, what type of silicone product should I use, is there a certain product or just go ask for silicone???/ thanks

There are a million different silicone products. I believe liquid nails makes a few different types in smaller squeeze tubes. Something like this that comes in a small clear squeeze tube. http://liquidnails.com/caulks/cs-145.html I'd look for one that is a sealant and that is clear.

plumbers goop is good... it's a CA glue that dries to a rubbery consistancy... was designed for sealing cracks in sinks and leaky holes...
