I hear ya haha, it was definately early!

I think the Explorer Express kit is gonna go for a little less than 4 g's, although I could be wrong. You should talk to Black Magic, he knows a lot more than most of us about the EE supercharger I am sure.

I think they are getting somewhere around 60-70 or more hp from the EE charger.

Boy I'm sure glad we cleared that up I was getting worried:rolleyes: LMAO

Doug, that is so nice man! How much did you pay for that? I seriously would want to put that in my X! WHat is that called? Is that a super charger? Man, I need to know more about all these stuff! Let me know! THats really tite!

My suggestion is you do a little research. On here, RPS VORTECH ect. To get an idea of what your are dealing with. Second, no offense, If you have to ask how much you probably can't afford it. For a new kit your lookingat about $3500 bucks. There is also a bunch of other stuff you need to get besides. Start your planning, get everything you need together and take it form there. I will be posting an install write up but most of this can bee senn by downloading the instruction manual from Vortech. Dougs engine is a prime example of how to really turn out a 4.0. I know at this point I have spent thousands to get to where I am at thus far. Doug has me beat by a land slide. My kit will look a lot like Wed's (the red one). I think the most I will do is eventually have the air ducting jet coated anlong with my headers. By the way Dougs pic makes for a great desktop. Really inspires you. I have had it up on my desktop for two months. I'm almost there. So it must do something.
Later,
Jeff

I hoping to. As of right now I am stacked with a clutch install and a S/C install. I hope that I will be able to make it. I'll have a better Idea by Wed. of next week. The clutch will be going in Sun. Start work on the S/C on Tues.
later,
Jeff

lets see.....i pay 20k/yr in touition, plus books, gas, bills, and the ex, and going out twice a week.....and i only make like 18k/yr. i know i cant afford it, it doesnt need to be pointed out to me....i was just curios what you paid...i alreday priced them out from summit, bortech, and EE..but i didnt see one for the OHV on EE's site so i will have to call them. gotta have a number before i can start saving, right?

Anyone know a close estimate as to how close Vortech is with the SOHC model....I was following explorer expresses progress, and they are almost done. But the Vortech adds an AMAZING look to the 4.0. I would much rather go that route, assuming power gains would be close to each other...

Heres an idea, they have been BSing over the SOHC model since 2000. Don't hold your breath.

I think that there is an issue with demand. It's not like everyone would snatch these up like cabage patch dolls. There are only a few that can justify putting. A supercharger on thier X. There is a ton of money put into R/D and to only sell 5 or 6. That wouldn't really be worth it. I mean there has been a BBK kit for a long while, don't see many of those on here. Eaton kit from EE hasn't been a huge seller either. I dont' know of anyone who has placed a Vortech in a 4.0 Explorer. Not saying no one has but, I don't know them. So this is proof that not many explorer owners are as serious about upgrading thier ride as other vehicle owners. I guess the only thing you can do is keep hounding them.

Where did you buy your SC from?

I actually got it used. John V. sold it to me. The kit was installed for a few months. While they were trying different kits to install in the X's. I went to his shop a couple of months ago, and asked him if he would be willing to sell. Of course the answer was yes.

That S/C looks a lot like a turbo, what gain will you get over the standard manifold mounted S/C or is it that way by design?

Click this link and go into the tech section. More than you'll want to know.
