I'm looking for suspension ideas or know how more so for the 2008 ST. I plan on lowering it soon and I have a set of wheels for it already, 22" KMC 677 D2's. I want to take it down 2", yes i'm willing to notch the frame. What I'm curious about is, is there a vehicle that uses a spring of a similar shape and thickness that i could possibly get the springs from or could i even use mustang parts on this one like I did on my 01 Sport?

My other idea was to run coil-overs, but I'm terrible at measuring out not only the length I need but knowing what I can run as an alternative brand so to speak. In other words, there could be a few other vehicles that use a comparable setup, funny enough, with my 2001 Sport I was able to easily find anything with that one.

there isnt much. I have tried to see if the struts on the 4th gen x are the same as the 3rd gen x(05) but not many people will comment.

Also I am thinking about just cutting some spring. there is a guy on here that cut 1/2 coil from all struts and got a 3/4" drop in front and 1/2 in back.
good luck.

Lowered 4th gen

Hi, I know its a year later but in case you're still wondering...

I have a 2010 limited and used Belltech's kit for the 3rd gen. I figured if I failed miserably I would just put the kit in my wife's 2003 Eddie Bauer. Anyway the kit should give 1.8" drop I think and here is what I found:

The front springs fit right in place but give about 2.75" of drop. The rear springs are a smaller diameter and much shorter but will work, I had to make a spacer 5.75" outside diameter, 3.00" inside diameter and 1.5" tall to go between the spring and strut mount plate at the top. This ended up giving me 2.5" of drop in the rear and has a very nice stiff ride. Other than the spacer, everything fit right into place.

Hope this helps!
