Sync ver 2.6?

Sorry I have to come to defense of Ford on this one. It is important, critical, that Ford internal systems work with MFT. That software; that service, needs to be fully functional for all users.

Who are you replying to.. The argument isn't whether it should "work with every phone, etc".. it's the fact that they aren't showing us what is being changed in version updates. There is no explanation of the fixes, enhancements, or known problems between software revisions (2.4, 2.7, 2.8), so how do we make that decision on whether we need to update or not.

So what is new/different/fixed for v2.8 over v2.7?

Hi Seni,

It would be much appreciated by us patient v2.4 owners if you could touch base with the powers that be at central command and let us know when we too can get the MFT v2.8 software installed at our dealers. And what I would really appreciate is a document with the update procedure pasted here that I could print out and bring with me to show the dealer that the download is indeed available for my X (they continue to insist there's no v2.7 even). Thank you.

Ercole,

I had posted the following message earlier in the thread and would like to share it with you. This information can be submitted to your Ford servicing dealer but they have been made aware as well.

About the Customer Satisfaction Program 10B20:

In some 2011 model year Explorer vehicles with MyFord Touch and MKX vehicles with MyLincoln Touch, various features associated with the MyTouch system may function erratically due to software issues. These features include, but are not limited to, touch screen, entertainment system, SYNC and SYNC Travel Link, Rear-View Camera, Navigation System, and voice recognition system.

In the interest of customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to improve overall system functionality by reprogramming the MyTouch system to the latest level free of charge (parts and labor) under the terms of this program. This Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until January 31, 2012 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners. The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period of time. Please contact your local dealer to setup an appointment. If you have further questions, please PM me.

Picked up my new Explorer Limited two weeks ago and have enountered the Synch problem. Thanks for all the good info in this thread. Had it into the dealer yesterday and was able to give them the TSB # which helped (in fact the TSB 11-03-15 has been replaced with a new TSB which hopefully is v 2.8), however, the dealer was unable to update ("didn't take") so I have to take it back in tomorrow and leave it for the entire day. Hassel yes, but so far excluding this problem, I love the vehicle (my sixth in the Explorer family - 3 Explorers, 2 Mountaineers, and an Aviator).

It keeps getting asked but never answered; is there really a V2.8 and if so, why is it not an option for download?

Syncmyride reports that V2.7 gen2 is the latest, so how can there be a V2.8?

Cause syncmyride is worthless, so far all updates have been dealer only installs. For example, syncmyride reports that 2.4 is the latest version for me.

2.8 is going to be dealer only install, and it's not yet available to dealers, but is being installed at the factory.

My '11 Explorer is at the dealer as I type this and they just installed v2.8. I had v2.4 installed since I took delivery and was having a lot of issues. Let's hope v2.8 clears them up. Just an FYI to people waiting to upgrade.

Awesome.. thanks for the info..

Aha, so dealers are getting access to it already. Let us know what all it fixes.

This rig, purchased 3 days ago has version 2.4, does it really need to be upgraded to 2.7/2.8? So for I have not found a lick of problems and really do not want to screw things up by upgrading..kinda like a bios upgrade on a PC. Sometimes better, sometimes not.

Since Ford isn't releasing a list of changes/fixes/updates/etc for revisions, there's no way to answer that question. I'm a firm believer of .. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Unless you find out here that 2.8 contains some new feature that you gotta have, I'd stay on 2.4 if you have no problems with it.

Does anyone know what the file size is for the 2.7 version? Dealership wants to do my new car orientation and add another tank of gas on this Friday, want to see if they will load it to a USB drive so I can do it later.

You can't do it later.. it requires the flash kit that only the dealers have. It can't be installed from a usb stick

Really just not that smart of a away of doing things. I suppose some folks could screw it up but they would have to work hard at it.

Valet code is locked and unknown

Picked up my 11 Exp Limited today. Someone locked the valet code so I have no radio or touchscreen.

The dealer said they could not unlock it?? That makes NO sense whatsoever.

Now after 2 1/2 hours to pickup the car I have to waste another 1/2 day getting this issue fixed. Next week. Nice NOT!!!

Oh and this was a show car. I picked it up from the dealer and their make ready department left a Chev brochure under the seat. I guess it was too much trouble to throw it out. Salesman was great, dealership seems to have some issues. I don't know how thrilled I will be with the service dept.

Pretty sucky to me. This is my 5th Ford Explorer.

I am wondering if I do a USB upgrade if it might unlock it? Anyone else had anything like this? Forget your valet code and you are screwed I guess.:thumbdwn:

Ummmm did you even bother to look at the manual?

Per the manual:
"Note: If you are locked out and need to reset the PIN, you can enter 3681 and the system will unlock."

Just a follow up to my post yesterday about being upgraded to v2.8.

Nothing really stands out but I did notice a big speed boost with the system. Screens load faster, indexing of my USB devices is also much quicker.

A funky thing happened to my radio presets, it reversed the order of them, so #6 is now #1, #5 is now #2, and so on.

I was hoping this update would keep the system on the area I was in after a restart of the vehicle but it still reverts back to the home screen. (So if I turn the car off while on the climate screen when I start it it's on the home screen.)

I also noticed in the menu under notifications there was a message of install failed. I went into it but nothing was there. I wonder if they had trouble getting the update installed.

Oh, and I don't even know if this is possible but my bass seems have a much bigger thump now. All the same settings before the update. I don't know, seems odd.

Thanks guys, Hope this info helps out people deciding if they should update.
