I am looking for a little more HP from my 94, 4.0 OHV. I already have drilled air box, cat back, and a Jet
chip. Would my next step be a throttle body or MAS? I believe that on a 94 that my best HP gain would come from a MAS.

MAS. I would do the exhaust first. Also you better have a K&N panel filter in there.
Also NGK plat, Motocraft plat, or Bosch +4 plugs and some Taylor Spiro wires are a good upgrade.

Ditch the airbox and get a KKM, do the exhaust, then worry about the MAS. the throttle body should come last.

GEARS are the biggest improvement you can make for your truck, but thats $$$$. Also a 410 CAM is a great upgrade for the 4.0L.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry probably should have been clearer in the first post. K&N filter in the air box and the exhaust is a cat back system with Flomaster pipes and Ravin muffler. I read on this site that 95 and newer 4.0 OHV’s have 70mm MAS sensors in them. What size do the first gen X’x have? Would it be worth the $314 for the Grantelli from truckperformance.com or should I buy the $240 one from Explorer Express?

Camshaft and gears are on the list, but I am not sure if I should get extreme with this X or get a 5.0 in a second gen. In a couple of years this one will be rusted out living in Minnesota.

I have the Granatelli 70mm MAS and love it! However I also got it on sale from Truckperformance.com for $205 like a year ago.

The Grantelli and most aftermarket 4.0 units are nothing more then a Mustang 70mm body with a re-calibrated sensor for the 19# injectors. So the Explorer Express one may be better since its cheaper....however the customer service is so so, or so I hear.

Shop around, I bet you can find one cheaper.

Yes it will make a difference with your mods, quicker revving, smoother idle, better gas mileage, and a few HP. the factory unit on the 91-94 is restrictive.
