I am with timmy. I only wish I could have been there. I would have made them pay soooo much. I am sorry that that crap went down, and can only hope that you get the chance to make it up to them. Pay back sucks. I wish you the best of luck, and them, the worst.

Dude,

Sorry to hear about it bro. Glad to see you're still alive. Don't let little b**chs keep you down. When 911 happened, we didn't stop flying planes did we? What ever you decide to buy, fix it up. But this time, invest alittle money in security. Buy either a low jack or do the following.

There are systems out there, when if you press a button, or if you shut your car off, and turn it back on, the car will drive for a mile and a half or you can have it set on a timer and do min. and seconds. If you get car jacked, the loosers will get a mile and a half down the road, and the fuel pump will shut off (similar how on mustangs, there is an emergency system that shuts the fuel pump off when in an accident).

My friend was able to set this type of system up using a turbo timer, once he'd hit a small hidden button, the timer would shut the vehicle off in 3.5min, and it couldn't be truned back on until you located the turbo timer and turn it back on which was hidden under the dash. Hitting the button again wouldn't turn it back on.

Anyway, I'm all for fixin up rides, but protect them as much as you can. With a system like above, it gets you out of harms way, but helps the police find your car quick. Just my $0.02.

Yes and the Sharper Image sells (or used to sell ) a similar system, shuts off the fuel pump and starter after like 5 minutes. The great thing about this system was the "switch" to activate the system looked like a fuel door open level like you would find on a honda, so when you are exiting the vehicle you can reach down and pull it up without being suspicious...

Lojack is a good alternative too. Somebody should make a remote system where you could activate it from a few hundred feet away....

All it would take is a timer activated relay that was connected to the connector at the top of the emergency fuel shut-off switch. The only hard part would be getting to a switch while trying to get out without getting shot. If you think you can get out quickly, then don't even worry about the timer. Just put a switch in line with the shut-off switch. The engine will continue to run for a few minutes once the connection is broken. Maybe put a button right by the handle to open the door so that when you open the door you can trigger the switch. The thief will get a couple of miles away and the engine will die.

You cold have a switch that is near the transmission shifter. Since a theif doesn't wnat you to leave it in gear as you get out, you could push it while shifting back to park.

Or you could put in one of those old high beam switches that you tap with your foot. The theif would never see that.....

Just read your post. Sorry to hear some arseholes stole your ride, but glad to hear you are alright. Like everyone else has already said, don't let this discourage you or your passion for automobiles. Anyone that can produce a vehicle as sweet as that, has to love 'em.

I can't imagine someone taking my truck and it is almost stock. All that time, thought, money, and sweat and some a$$hole just takes it. There's a good chance they won't know what to do with all the custom parts without getting caught. Nothing was stock.

(similar how on mustangs, there is an emergency system that shuts the fuel pump off when in an accident).
Ex's have these as I belive all cars 1991 and up have them. Probobly earlier than that.

Man does that suck! I know I would be just sick! I can imagine what your going through. It would be nice if that SOB was caught,or even better if one of us found him. We could all take turns dragging his ass across some broken glass and then through the salt pits! Anyway I'm glad your physically ok. Every cloud has a silver lining! Hope for the best.

Tim

Man, that really sucks about your Ex. I couldn't imagine if someone stole my Ex.

I have a friend who has a totally custom Suburban, over 3 years and $100,000 put into it, stolen. It was located 4 days later in Miami, all the audio and electronics missing. Insurance gave him $85,000, and he's starting the whole process over again.

Don't give up hope that you'll get the Ex back.

I think the chances are small that it will be passing through Atlanta any time soon, but I'm going to keep my eyes out for ya
