^^Will it bolt up to the 302?

Yes, with the proper bellhousing. :) Its becoming a very popular swap with the early Bronco guys. Shifts about like a car tranny, has 4:1 first gear, and is hella stout. I dont know if you watch the show "Trucks", but that is the tranny used on project crazy horse (the badass EB with cheezy airbrush). They have it behind a 347 stroker w/400 hp IIRC.

This is all pretty interesting, but I'd probably have to try (and maybe fail) with putting in the SOHC first :D If the tranny blows, well, it blows. Are there any adapters to put like an M5OD-R2 or any other heavier duty manual?

James, that's good to hear. I think I'll look into that one a bit more and see which I'd be able to get easier/cheaper (probably the NV3550) and which tranny would suit my needs more.

Reread post 17. ;)

Read Here: http://www.4.0performance.com/sohcpan.html

There, doug goes through the differences in main bolts between the SOHC and the OHV. In the artical, he describes where a SOHC pan fits perfectly where a OHV pan would go, also the SOHC pan would clear the beams, as doug states in this artical.

Hes also running an awesome special on lifters for the OHV ($175 a set!)

It would be alot easier (and cheaper) in the long run to put a blower on your OHV. However, you wouldnt have the coolness factor of having the SOHC in a 1st gen. However, you would have the coolness factor of a blower. :D

I agree. I have a Vortech V-1 SC in my truck and I am too lazy to change the diff oils so I paid a local shop to do all the fluids. As I watched from the waiting room, the guy popped the hood, and soon there were like 8 guys looking into the engine compartment waving arms and stuff. :D I pulled the plumbing and belts off the SC last week because it started leaking oil, but the coolness factor gave me a big head and a nice romp in the throttle. :D 326 is the seal and bearing price from Vortech. It goes to the shop next month.

I'd love a Vortec, but isn't it like $4k?
