Hello. I am intending on doing some lifting to my '93 Explorer. I like off-roading,or just sporadic weekend trips on easy-intermediate trails. My plans are to do a 2.5-4" suspension lift and a 3"-4" Body Lift. I am new to all this lifting business, so basically the only things I know have come from this forum. So far, it seems as though the James Duff 2.5" class 2 suspension lift for $950 i think is the best choice for me.but i read thear is a 4" trailmaster suspension lift.money is not the problem i'll take out a loan. i just want the best for my explorer.P.S i have the auto trany and i hear that this will be a big factor in how far i can go.i dont want to burn up another one.thanks for all the info so far.come on people i
need your help!

Many people have started with the James Duff 2.5" kit. They work best with the dual shock hoops and the extended radius arms.

Most of these guys have since upgraded their Explorers with the Superlift 5.5" kit. This is by far the most popular out of the box lift for the Explorer.

I agree, I tried the 2" lift and overall was not happy. Basically I wanted more lift. Like Rick said, the Superlift is the way to go if you want one time bolt on height. It is quite expensive though so search the net and research your project. This is a major choice, I am going though it right now. Looks like I will be getting a Trailmaster 4" lift and it's going to set me back about $1400.

On the other hand, you can always do a body lift. You'll get 3" for about $150, but it is much more labor intensive. Guys I talked too have broken bolts and just had an overall tough time with the whole deal. It is a cheap alternative though. I am not saying that a lift is easy to do, just that a body lift is harder depending on the application.

Like I said, do your research and chose the best lift for you. Not much anyone else can tell you on here, you need to choose a height and manufacturer. It's fairly limited so you shouldn't have a problem finding something for you. Here are some sites to help you out.
