Mine has a vibration between 82 and 87 mph with throttle but not as much when coasting. Everything checks out fine, it's probably just the resonance of the mud tires.
No DOUBT about this not being some usual shakes!!! Also, I am not complaining about the harsh ride, like Jason and Jet Ski puller, this has nothing to do with a hard ride. The shaking I am talking about is not normal, and if it is...someone at Ford was drinking! So, someone mentioned the fifth arm suspension, is that something someone can purchase?
my 92 got that around 60. I got my tires balanced and its MUCH better but its still there about 70. Before i got them balanced it shook so bad my mirrors got blurry. It was ran so long without weights i think the tires have uneven tread now (i can feel it on the one tire). They balanced mine with the tires adn wheels off the truck. Have you tried going to one of the places where they balance them on the truck? That would blance the rotors/brake drum drivetrain (except u joint) and everything.
I have a '93 4-door and have considered driving off a cliff rather than put up with this shake any longer. Luckily there are no cliffs to speak of in lower Alabama and with my luck, both me and the truck would survive. But here's my situation. I have replaced bushings, wheel bearings, shocks (with $200 Gabriels), tires, brakes, motor mounts, trans mount, tie rod ends, etc. I have had the tires rebalanced and the front-end aligned. All to no avail.
By my count, the only things left to try are the u-joints and axle pivot bushings. They both look like they will take some time, so that's why they're the last. Although, by now, I'm not real optimistic either one is the problem.
Here's a question though. Has anyone tried replacing the harmonic balancer (vibration damper)? The thought occured to me after I had the motor mounts replaced. I could swear the vibration got worse after they were installed. I figured the new mounts would be stiffer, but what would cause the vibration to get worse but a missing engine or a harmonic balancer? And I checked, the engine is still there.
