I got some transparent paint from hobby lobby and went to town, about 6 coats of clear. The paint is green, but appears black untill you use blinkers(which are now green) it looks cool. Reverse lights were left clear with a little inspiration from Black Magic
Yeah nice job it looks nice. the only question i have is.. It it legal? I used to have carbon fiber taillight covers on my X and they gave me a hard time during inspection.
I live in Kansas and we don't have inspectons here, so I guess I'm in the clear. When the brakes are applied and blinkers are on the light shines thru and is clearly visible, so iI can't see why it would be illegal.
Can you explain what you did again. Did you say you used a clear or a transparent green coating to do that? Could you say specifically the brand of the coating you used. Thanks! BTW I love it.
I got some transparent green spray paint from hobby lobby, It is made by "Design Master" and the color is
"Forest 150". It is a crafts spray paint that I just tried for the hell of it. All I did was remove the tail lights, clean them, apply about 8-10 coats of the green spray (# of coats vary depending on how dark you want it) then apply about 3-4 coats of clear. I wanted my lights to appear black but green was the only color I could find so I used it. The lights look black but have a green tint when turn signals are used. Hope this helps.

Ok, just wondered what the 3-4 coats of clear spray were for? Does this make it shine better or what. I am wanting to do this myself, with black, but not as dark as yours. Just curious about the clear though.
