I want to put 33x10.50s on my 94 eddie bauer Explorer but I have no idea how big of a lift to get. If any one could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

You gotta ask yourself what you'll be doing with it. Pavement pounder or wheeler.

Me personally, I'd stay away from body lifts. Do something like a 4" suspension lift and run a 33x12.50 tire. If 33x10.50 are all you want then try a 2" Duff lift. You should clear with the tires only being 10.50 wide.

I'd do the 2" Duff lift + the coilspacer/shackle lift; for a total of about 3.5". You should be fine with that and 33x10.50s. Though you might have to trim a little. Good luck, and welcome!

You will need at least 3" of lift to clear 33x10.5's on 15x8" wheels (you will need to go with standard offset wheels in order to prevent rubbing in the front).

If you stay with stock wheels 33x10.5s will fit with 2" of lift on the street, might rub swaybar (no big deal), or plastic in the back of the front fender. I had a test fit done with 33x9.5s with just 1.5" f-150 spring seats (spacers) in the front and didn't get any rubbing, but that was just in the shop. The Duff would be a good choice I think. Keep in mind this is with stock wheels, maybe 8" wheels with stock backspacing. If you want wider you'll rub the back of the fenderwell a lot easier.

Thanks for the info, I'm not going to be taking it trail riding for the most part. It's in perfect condition and I want to lift it to make it look good. So I'm not really worried about what's going to flex or articulate better. I just don't want any tire rub.

i see you live in PA i do too .... how far from greensburg/pittsburgh are you?

I am running a duff 3" VR lift and spacers and 33x10.50s They work great. They rubbed on the plast inner fender well, but that can be cut with anything. You can see it in the Before and After or the Explorer Projects for a complete write up and pictures.

I live about 5 hours from pittsburgh.

What is the 3" duff VR lift. I didn't see it anywhere on the duff website.

I guess it is discountinued. It was the same as the 2.5 except with progressive rate coils.

I'm a little confused about rim sizes and backspacing. Can I use a 15x7 rim on 33x10.50's? I thought you needed a 15x8. And if I do use the 15x7s, do I need to do any backspacing?

thanks

You'll be fine fitting 10.50's on a 15x7 wheel. Let's see some pictures when you're done, and good luck!

How much work is putting the duff 2.5" lift on? I have friends that put lifts on their truck and it wasn't that bad. I'm just a little worried about the ifs. I was reading something about having to grind out rivets. I don't want to mess something up but on the same token I can't afford to pay someone to put it on for me.

Yeah, you'll have to grind out the rivets in some places, but a couple people have taken it to a shop and had them replace the rivets with bolts. That would be my suggestion. Other than that, it could be done in a weekend...I'm not really sure how hard it is to do the duff lift, hopefully someone will be able to give you some more help...I think there have been a couple people that have done writeups, so you might wanna search for it. Good luck
