Tire replacements. Bridgestone Revo or BFG LongTrail

will be shopping for a new set of shoes on my truck. currently have 134K miles, 60K on the tires. I replaced the original Michelins Cross Terrains at 74K miles, which impressed me. However I wanted a more aggressive look. My truck is 2WD and I obviously don't do any off-roading. I don't haul, but may look into getting a utility trailer in the near future. the truck is sitting on Bridgestone AT Revos 255/70/16, original rims and when they are new, the truck looks swol'...know what I mean? These tires are awesome. Drove in Chicago for three years with no problems at all. The price has increased somewhat since I bought them 3.5yrs ago. I can't find them for less than $160 ea and I paid $142. I had two separate stores in my area recommend the BFG LongTrail Touring, which run for $124 ea. These are less aggressive in appearance and tread.

The BFG Long Trail is a good tire and they do wear very well.

I got the long trails and have about 75k miles on them with more to go. They grab very well and am very happy with them.

I have the factory long trails on my mountaineer and w/68K on them they still probably have a good 10-12K left on them. They do fantastic in wet environments. I think the next tires I get are going to be REVO's though; I like the more aggressive tred.

On mine '04, my tires are about 7/32-5/32 left, been looking for a set too.
First Choice: Michelins LTX / AT ii
I just replace the ones (LTX/AT) on my jeep after 75k miles. Very, very good tire, bit expensive however.
2nd Choice: A little cheaper tire that i've been looking at are Firestones Destinations AT's, a lot of people on tirerack like them.

Dirt cheap choice: I might go with GeoTrac, Nankang. Ride firm but great traction just got a set two weeks ago for my heep, $62 each mounted but these are 235/75-15XL

Hard choice

From what you're saying that's a tough choice, I have the All-Terrain T/A KOs, love 'em. I'm a bit partial to BFGoodrich, but the Bridgestone REVOs and the Firestone Destination A/T are both supposed to excellent tires as well. The Destinations do have the Uni-T design. And have gotten good reviews on quite a few different sites. Very similar to the REVO and I'm guessing a better price. I'd say for street use any of those would be excellent. I would check a few more reviews online and then make your decision. No matter what you decide out of the 3 you'll probably be pretty happy.

what about the michelin LTX m/s? i know it is completely different tire altogether but cannot ignore the great reviews.

It's more of a street tire than the other ones, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I think there may have been another tire that the trucks were supposed to have though. I could be wrong, but I think it was LTX A/T or something. Pretty much the same tire, just a little more aggressive and made for trucks instead of passenger cars.

i have the firestone desitination a/t's. absolutely love them. i get all kinds of weather here in ohio. snow/rain/ice, they do great in it all. they look aggressive too!! they arent too loud, but they arent a quiet tire. it doesnt bother me one bit, even with the radio off. id definitely recommend them.

both places require special ordering as they don't stock this tire.
I like the price compared to the Revos. The reason why I asked about Michelin LTX M/S is because costco has an $80 discount right now that ends dec 7th. with the coupon the price would be $16 cheaper, which is not enough to convince me but worth entertaining the option.

I just bought a set of 4 BFG Rugged Trails 265/75/16 out the door for $475

Oh yeah, forgot about the Rugged Trails. I'm not sure how they compare in price to the Long Trails, but they've got a bit more aggressive tread design. They seem to be a popular tire in my area. Probably a good tire for a 70/30 on-road/off-road.

sweet deal... was that at a chain store or mom's/pops place? i'm in Cali now, so I have the "privilege" of buying tires from anybody and pay an additional $7 to the state for this privilege...aside from disposal fees.

I work at a dealership...now in PA but for the last 19yrs in NY...So this tire question got me thinking about mine since I can get decent deals. I have Cooper ATR's on my GMC and Coopers on my motorhome also and I really like them so I called a friend (tire dealer) in NY.....255/70/16 for $104 ea. I`ll mount them back here in PA.....Anyone have any info on the General HTS.....

I have a set of WR's on mine now - best winter traction i have ever had - and that includes the set of Mastercraft Courser C/Ts and BF Goodrich TA/KO's I had on my truck.

Although living in CA...I guess you wouldn't need a winter tire...

Stick with the BF's - I had 65k on mine before I got the Nokians.

I have them on the Explorer Sport and my Grand Cherokee 4x4's. No substiture for traction and an all weather tire which is Winter certified yet can be used all year round.

Mich LTX AT 2

I just put 4 Michelin AT 2 on my 05 Ex -245/65/17 a few days ago They are considered an off road tire but they are great on road Quiet and smooth ride
They are aggressive looking but they don't look like they belong on Bigfoot
