tire size question

new to the whole explorer thing i ordered the truxx kit the other day and have been trying to figure out tire size.. Do you guys think a 31x12.50 on a 16x8 wheel with 1.5 wheel spacers would work or think they would rub alot turning

You'll be fine and could even go bigger. I recently put a 265/75/16 (32") on mine with a 1.25" spacer (front only) with no rubbing at all. Another member with the same rig put the same size with no spacer with little or no rubbing.

Mine with the 1.25" spacer.

asull85's with no lift.

I have searched I knew that thw 265/75 16 (32x10.4 16) would fit but I haven't seen anything on here about using a tire wider the the 10.5 on just the truxz lift..

I didn't even pay attention to the width of tire to wanted. You'll probably run a little with that size, since it's so wide. Why do you want such a wide tire? They are going to look like boxes under there.

It all depends on what wheels you use. If stock you are definitely going to need to use wheel spacers if going wider than a 265/75/16. Not for necessarily for fenderwell clearance, it's so the tire won't rub the steering knuckle.

You could run a 285/75 tire with a 4-4.5" backspaced wheel. Probably a stock wheel too with wheel spacers. But bigger than that? no idea.

Yea I was looking at the back space its 4 1/2 then use like a 1.5 2 inch spacer you think that qould be enough

Like I said, not sure about anything bigger than a 285/75. But if it works, post the result here so other people will know.

I want to say backspacing on the stock rims is something like 3 - 3.25". Personally I think 4.5" is fine for 265/75. click on the link in my signature for pics...I'm running 265/75/17 on 4.5" backspace wheels.

i think i got it imma run 265/80r16 tsl radials on micky thompson bead locks 16x8 and 1.5 inch wheel spacers.. will post up pics when its all done

Interesting. The stock ironman wheels were 3.25" IIRC. Spoolin my aftermarket wheels are 4.5" and I am not running spacers. It would be easy for you just to take off one of your current wheels and measure the backspacing to see what you've got, just to make sure.
