Hello guys/gals,
I'm Joey by the way, I have for the past two week been reading most of your response that you have posted related to the tranny blow-off gasket VB. Well I need help and if you guys can help to answer a couple of question for me, thx. (Before I start I must mention that this is a family truck mostly for traveling and it has 115,000 miles) That been said, let me get started. I started having problems with my 2001 STrac tranny O/D blinking light, I notice that my 5th gear (4R55E) was not engaging and my RPM were around 3200 or so. My reverse and other gears were fine at the time. Previously I started reading most of your stuff and tried to get an idea or opinions of what could be wrong or the cost? Well I took it in to a shop (codes stuff) and an individual there say to me that 2 and 5th gears were causing my problem and that solenoid or sensor weren’t needed (this would probably cost me around $1600) wow (Ford charge me $77 the diagnostic and reply to a rebuild for 3K). So I say to myself "NO way José" this guys are ****en idiots. So I started the project (fix this truck), I might add, I do have some knowledge in other older models, use to help my dad and brother work on there trucks & cars back in High School. So here's my 1st step change the oil and filter, did that and right away and to my surprise I found no pieces of metal or gasket (staring at oil pan) in addition to this tranny oil was red in color no odor. Installed the oil filter and new gasket and added oil and Lucas for protection. Took it for a drive (I read that it very important that I should warm it up before taking it for a spin, so I did) and the same problem O/D blinking no 5th gear, notice 2nd was dragging also or 1st. Came back to the website read some more (Glacier form VB gasket blow out and replacing EPC) Did that made sure I follow all his steps, 72-97 inches in VB, didn’t upgraded with Sup or Tero kit, just added new oil and filter. Warm it up took it for spin, no luck O/D blinking no 5 all gears doing fine. Oh my god, NOooo. What is going on? What is going on, man? All these days spend for what, SH**, well I woke up this past Monday took it to another Shop. This guy gave me another codes, he said EPC, 2nd solenoid, low pressure and broken gasket (didn’t mention that I had already replace EPC, VB gasket, by the way (I was managed to take some time and check the solenoids all them and they were working .027, .005, .011 blah blah blah), and had previously purchased the entire band & O-ring kit. Guys and Glacier what is going on why the low pressure can it be the torque converter or pump? Right now, she's on stands and I'm working on the VB, rechecking values and replacing rings were needed. I notice Valve Plug Retainer on EPC was kind of scratch. Any ideas, guys I would surely be thankful.
Oh by the way I use a Paint Can Opener to remove the intermediate and o/d servo, since you guys posted that it was difficult to remove, this will make so easy to do, just make sure you remove the exhaust converter
