Ok guys, I did the torsion bar key flippy thingy, Have about 3/4" fender to tire, or just under 30" fender to ground. Good there.
However, I had been (before flip)and still am getting a knock sound, just one, right under my feet(driver side) when changing vehicle direction (forward to reverse, or vice-versa). It isn't a u-loint or driveshaft related, I know it is torsion bar.
My 98 Mounty has these metal plates, with a blue plastic-rubber material about 1/4" thick, on 1/8"metal plates. Almost constructed like a brake pad.The plastic side goes up against the frame, the metal side has grooves for the tosion keys to ride in. There was nothing between the metal plate and torsion key.On mine these plates were actually a hassle while flipping the keys, as both hung up on each other.I wedged some rubber inner fender material behind the plate when I reinstalled, noise went away but is returning muffled but getting louder. I know I'm onto it now!!
Somebody here has surely seen these, possibly have a part number for me? I really don't want to take it apart, but the part # is stamped on it, I remember looking to see if they were numbered side to side, they are same
Thanks for looking
