Yesterday I installed a set of warrior shackles and ProComp Add-a-Leaf, and today i tightened my torsion bars to raise up the front. The problem is i ran out of thread on the drivers side to get it quite up far enough. I saw somewhere on the forums about backing them out the whole way before tightening. Is that the answer or do I need to get longer bolts or a different lift?
Thanks

I know this is an old post but I have the same exact question......I also ran out of threads on the drivers side and still have at least 3/4 to 1" of threads on the passenger.

Any help?

Matt

second that i would like to know also in case it happens to me this weekend when i lift

Could be one of 2 things
1) weakened driver side leaf springs (search for gangsta lean)

2) you might try indexing the driver side torsion key down one notch. I have heard of them being mis keyed.

I guess I should have added I have searched look at alot of different threads

It looks like one solution is just to purchase a longer M12 X 1.75 x (about 80) bolt. Grade 10.......

I just wanted to confirm that or does anyone recommend re-clocking the Torson bar instead

Thanks again,
Matt

You will need longer bolts or new torsion bars. The torsion bar on the driver side becomes week due to:

1:The gas tank being on that side
2:The weight of the driver after all those years

Thanks guys,

That is what I was looking for.

Matt

fastenal bolts

we just raised the truck by tightening the torsion bars as far as we could. It raised the truck about 2" or alittle more. How much more would this bolt give me? I have 33" and although I have trimmed the plastic on the front wheel well, on side still rubs alittle on sharp turns. We used a kit we bought at Pep Boys to raise the rear and I love it. The front just needs to come up a bit more.

There are also new torsion bar keys that can be bought to move the range of adjustment up or down. I bought a pair of lowering keys for about $90 from Total Performance. They also have lifting keys. Good luck,
