I NEED TO GET IT INSPECTED ASAP. it will not pass unless i can take care of this. my husband is NO help. it started with the door thing now he screwed up the alarm we cannot get turned off.

It all goes back to the bad door latch-switch. The door ajar switch is in the latch. Since the switch is bad the alarm will not function, dome light stays on and door ajar light is illuminated.

To determine which latch is bad, with engine running you will hear a chime when a door is opened. The door (rear hatch) which does not chime is the one to fix.

The switch "opens" when the door is shut, so, unplugging the bad switch will make everything work, except for the functions on that door. Follow the switch wire down to the harness and you will find a plug.

The dome light will not come on with that door, nor will opening that door set off an alarm, but it may just get you past the inspection-;)

New problem. the alram will not shut off!! So in saying that. I cannot even start the car..
Now i desperately need to disarm that. there is no switch in the back to shut it off so how do i geti to stop completely. i have unhooked it from the battery. is that a good idea??

What did he do to try to fix the original problem with the doors?

i agree. all the problems you describe seem to be related to a faulty door lock switch. one in each door and 2 on the lift-gate and rear glass. these switches tend to stick when they get old, and sometimes they break. unfortunately you have to remove the interior trim panels to get at them. if Turdle's method of determining which switch is causing the problem works, it will save you quite a bit of time. if the switch is sticking, sometimes you can get it to release by spraying the latch down from the outside with WD40. it's worth a try, but don't count on that working.
