I have about 80k miles on Mobil 1, and yes I am 'posed to use Mercon V. I have never had a tranny problem, period.
I tow a Jeep on a tandom trailer with my lowered Explorer. I did nada to beef the rear and I only have the stock tow package cooler. Tranny temp never exceeds 200F in Florida ( while towing ).
