Tranny slips in O.D.

Happy Fathers day gentlemen.

I am new to this site, so here we go. I have a 1992 Ford Explorer rear wheel drive with the A4LD transmission that slips in and out of overdrive.

Need help, can't afford a rebuild.

first question: do you mean overdrive gear or lock-up? If it is the lock-up torque converter you are describing then, well actually in both cases, do a filter and fluid change. Also, add a bottle of LubeGuard additive to the fluid. This product was developed in conjunction with LubeGuard and the Dept. of Trans. and I have found it to be very good with Lock-up clutch issues. Also, make note of what you find in the Trans. pan. Get back with me later on results.
