do you really need the special tools to rebuild the 5r55w tranny??? my 3rd gear is slipping tranny said 3rd gear clutch pak needs replacing so i am thinking just to replace all clutchs??????? maybe try lucas tranny slip???

Did you try adjusting the bands?

yes and all bands are new and servos

Gotya. I'll let BB field this one. I have zero knowledge of the 5R55.

yep and a new valve body gaskit. tranny shop checked for codes but they could not find any. 1st and 2ed is good then when it shift to 3rd the rpm goes up and then it shifts. then 4th and 5th is fine. if i manual put on 3rd it slips and now somethings the rpms goes up and down just a little but the tranny does not slip.

truck has 160000 but the tranny was rebuilt but how long ago, who knows

Did you check the servo bores for wear before you replaced the servos? An air test plate could test the clutch packs before you tear everything apart.

um the case i have now is new/used with new servos cuz on the old case the servo broke and the bores was junk so they sold me a used case. do i have to remove the tranny to do a air test???
