Can somebody please explain where the transmission id code is on the
door?
I found the door tag and the rear axle code but I don't see the word
"transmission".

Here is what my tag looks like (roughly, typing this from a note made with my wife dictating over the phone). Please let me know if an actual pic is needed, and i will make one when i get home.

M8102 ...... TYPE- ...... TRANS ...... AXLE
....................................T..............41

This means 'T' - A4LD transmission

Thanks for the help. My tranny is a 5r55s. It seems that this isn't the most
popular series in 02.

possible error in transmission code on door?

I have a 1995 XLT with the transmission code 'T' on the door, however it has a 4r55e in it. I have been inside it once already and it is definitely not a a4ld as it has all 6 solenoids etc. curious if anyone else has noticed anything like this?

looks like your truck is a 1996 .

My 1999 explorer sport has on the door lable.
Axle code- D4 -which is ? 3.73L
Trans code-D
Under trans code , it says 97-05- A5LDE/5R44/55E
What does those codes mean as I;m trying to determine towing ability of my truck.?

My ford manual says 4800lb towing capacity.

thanks
The bumper frame says max tow 3500 lbs. with 350 max Tonge W.
The trailer I want to tow is about 3000 lbs max loaded.
Should I just get a regular class 3 hitch to be on the high side.

as for the 4800 lb , is that because of the tranny being a 5r55e.
or the 3.73 rear end.?

mine has O.D. shutoff on the columm.

a little of both
ALWAYS shut the OD off when towing

I would put a proper trailer hitch on and not tow off the bumper.

I looked up my codes today..and idk if this will help any butttt.....

Wb|||BRK|||INT TR||||TP/PS||||R||||AXLE|||TR||||SPR (THEN UNDER IT)
112---4-------FX--------D-------------D4-----U-----1-F

So For rear end, u look at axle which is a D4.. so i have a 3.73 limited slip...and im assuming the TR is trans so i have a 4R70W.

so i have an 1995 eddie bauer limited v6. do i have the A4LD or 4R55E. the transmission was swapped from the original and i do not have park. also it appears as if it doesnt exactly line up in one spot where the casing of the transmission meets the engine.

You have the 4r. As for the line up issue, a transmission's bellhousing's overall shape doesn't usually match that of the engine as a transmission model can fit multiple engine models and an engine model is often compatible with multiple transmissions. As long as the bellhousing is flat against the engine all the way around, then the two should be properly mated and aligned.
