So after visiting my trans shop and bieng assured its all fine I went to slick rock/shoe creek with some buddies and apparently I completely blew low range out of the xcase.... It also feels like its struggling to move like bareley made it home..... At home I tried changing xcase (when I confirmed low was gone at home) to low and engine failsafe mode enabled with the wrench light.....WTF!!!!!
Any ideas what happened I was pulling up a small incline when it happened after turning around...

EDIT trans was screaming in interstate according to a friend...I'm thinking tc is not staying locked in o/d but that would be #4.....

Damn sorry to hear that Will. You think it was all because of the different sized tires maybe wearing something out before you went on the trip?

Yep... Trans guy said the chug I was feeling was Def xcase... Due to tires...
He also said if you don't fix it soon you will be buying a xcase, though I didn't think it'd go a day later.....

May call Treadwright and see if they can help me out
Chug was supposedly auto 4x engaging... How that makes low blow Idk...
Codes.....
P-2106- throttle actuator control system..forced limited power
B-1352 not a clue... Is a grey code but prior to this weekend I didn't have any codes thrown at all...

Describes my symptoms prior to going to trans shop exactly..............it was bad but after removing overfilled atf (1qt max) seemed to alleviate issue 75%.... And he said xcase..???

It moves in auto and 4hi but will not move in 4lo, spedometer goes up and everything....
Has loss of power in auto/hi but as of now moves around driveway.. thank god its not my daily.

When it went I eased he gas and we all (some 100yds away) heard a grind then I semi quiet pop...

So I'm sure codes are just because of failsafe mode...

Drained xcase fluid is black maybe a hint of light brown with many shiny metal shavings though I don't think any real debris could get out since the chain is right inside drain plug..
Found a xcase to swap in for $360+50 core... Used from a 05 75k on it one year unlimited mi warranty..
Figure if I pull this one apart I may rebuild and sell or if trash return for core..

Time is of the essence I see trans fluid all over pan (trans guy removed Fri..) and don't want him to say well the xcase blew like I told u and it took yada yada with it in trans which I can't cover...

Warranty ends the end of this month for trans....

Imma swap xcases and take it back.. saying you said xcase was issue I replaced now look...
Well anything as to what could be wrong...I talked to a mechanic who said I may have just blown a seal thus losing lo but I know grinding=bad /damage...

Should be in this afternoon... Then I intend to tear down old one and see if its repairable...
I'll take pics and maybe do a thread since I can't find one specifically for the bw 4411...

It's pretty bad when I tell the guy at dealer parts desk I need the trans/xcase gasket and without hesitation hops up and grabs one from the shelf no need to even look it up...

Yeah the last bolt on crossmember is giving me hell... It's the passenger top back bolt... Tank is kinda in the way... It's soaking more now..

Will do a teardown thread next week

Looks like somehow the clip that holds in outer planetary came out thus letting the gear fall out...
This is my best guess... There's debris everywhere... internal magnet was covered in metal...Also is is normal for there to be six spots for gears but only four there or did two explode simeltaniously?

Truck is back fully operational......LET IT SNOW!!!!!!!

Sweet glad its back running.old ford blue;)

Glad to here yoour back running again. Sure was a lot of metal in there.
