Turbo Ex burnout video

doing about 60mph, floored it , it shifted into 2nd instantly since I eliminated any delay on downshifts, then it upshifted into 3rd fairly hard and revved to redline, i was thinking oh the power to hit redline so fast. When I let off the accelerator and tromped back on it, it neutraled out :). The ****box is in pieces now just the actual trans (damn AWD) needs to come out, after i removed the upper intake and removed the c-console to access the stupid O2 sensor wires and top transfer case bolt:rant:, for some reason i still think its funny though

Be happy that you have the AWD, and not 4WD(BW4406). That's a light transfer case you have. I'm about to swap in an electronic BW4406, just a couple of parts yet to get.

Not for burnouts, just a more versatile 4WD system. Jon is smirking,

at this point Id rather have the 2WD for ease of removal, but I only was looking for AWD/5.0 (sleeper). Whats the strongest AWD/4WD case that bolts into these things without swapping fuel tanks etc ? It was also slipping in 1st for a bit (trans) due to the traction off the line, you could actually tell at what point it engaged.

Okay - I think I'm lost (as usual)

you were trying to do a burnout and blew the tranny?

The BW4406 is larger, it should be a little stronger, but the two have different front engagements. The AWD is a viscous coupler, that's a mysterious thing, experts don't have a clue about how strong they are. The BW4406 has a strong front engagement when in 4WD(H or L), but you can't turn the wheel then. I'll run it normally, the electric version has a clutch like the BW4405's, that should work fine I think, Alex has had very good service from his 2003 Explorer's similar electric 4WD TC.

The manual BW4406 is the only one which you can use and not swap the gas tank, Jon has that and he loves it.

Take your time with the trans work, there are a lot of parts that can be improved, plus just the kit parts are high. Good luck,

I cant do a burnout if I tried, the only thing burning out would be the trans, AWD. I was just driving the crap out of it uphill when it blew.
So the electric version of the BW4406 needs a gastank swap? I'll just leave it alone then since i dont want levers (im assuming entering the cab), I'll look into each further.

I was hesitant about the lever also, but now i wouldn't have it any other way.
I even forget it is there--until I need to grab it.
You seriously ought to consider this mod. It will make your truck fun again--:D

does it look like the "Green Machine" :D from inside? any pictures

I saw some other trucks pictures and thats not a bad swap(electronic one would be a hassle). Has anyone heard of the manual shift 4wd transfer case or AWD breaking under hard use and was the selector in 2WD? under regular use what transfer case has a higher failure rate? I want to use it for drag racing but really like the AWD traction if I can.

I took the transmission apart and was dissapointed, as much as I wanted I didnt break the stub shaft:rolleyes:, I just completely blew the seal off the 2-3 piston thats why it lost 3rd/4rth completely and all that slipping gave the direct clutch about 1/8" of freeplay and shredded friction material :D, Im sure it would of run somewhat with just a replaced piston but not for long or under hard use.

Being the need for speed section is slow. Just thought to see if we could get any takers to do more burnouts and post in this thread. later-j
Come on Jon, I know you are about 95% tuned, so you can drop the hammer... Oops I told our little secret. Oh where is the smiley with the stick poking? I need that right now. Ok poke, poke=Jon. :D

Those crazy rock crawling types give their transfer cases huge amount of crap, and there is such a huge aftermarket in them that I bet you could build a bullet proof one pretty easily.
As for the AWD one - who knows ! I think Justin is the only person i've seen putting significantly more power than stock through one. Hasn't broken yet, but who knows.
For one would love to know since I am keeping the AWD in my rod, and plan on a lot more power.
That being said i did score a full set of 2wd a arms and spindles/discs the other daya - just in case.

FYI, there is a manual BW4406 available on the EX.com forum, evidently new.

I think I'll do another too. The first one I posted sucked.

James - How's your truck running?

Good job there. Looks like you may see some better times at the track now. ;)
