U joint

2004 Sport Trac 4x4 Auto.
I'm going to replace my rear u joint. do most of you replace both once you have the shaft down. even though one is bad?

Yes replace both, at least I do. not worth having to pull it back out when the other joint goes.
 






I completely agree with Dave, there is absolutely not reason to not just replace both other then being cheap. You will see once you press the bad one out and press a new one in, they are simple, just watch out for a falling needle bearing.

I know they can be pricey depending on what ones you get but a lot of people recommend getting a spare just incase you crush a needle bearing. Don't fear as you will have a spare or even replace the front u-joint on the front drive shaft, :).
