over the summer, I plan on under coating my Explorer. but I am uncertain what to coat it with. I don't mean, undercoat, like the oily stuff, but with some sort of paint. So what is the best to use? I am not rich, so please keep cost in mind, I would also prefer if it was not a spray type, I like brushing stuff on more, because it goes on thicker, and seems to hold up better over time. I have used some of the Rustolium primer, that goes right over pre-existing rust, but it seems to not hold up well by it's self. Also I do not mind priming it first with the Rustolum, and them going over it again with something else.
Things I have heard, is that the rubberized undercoat flakes away in a short amount of time? Also that POR15 works good if it sticks.
I live in the rust belt in northern IL, so I want to prevent any further car cancer, because I plan on keeping my Explorer for as long as possible.
