what to use on leather?

Yeah, I'll admit that it is harder to find. Check shoe stores (real shoe repair store...not footlocker). They usually have it.

I remember getting mine from a car wash. It's like $12 a bottle but it's well worth it.

if you can't find it in a store go to a detail shop and they can get you some through their supplier. Or go to a dealership and look for the kid they have doing clean up he's usually under paid enough he'll sell you some real cheap on the side. haha

I found an online place that sells Lexol for $7.99

http://www.autobarn.net/ch1015.html

Do you need both the cleaner and the conditioner? I've used plain old water for cleaning in the past.

i got mine at a local saddle/tack shop. $8 a bottle. i forgot, but dad has been using this stuff for years on his horse stuff. so, if you live in southern/redneck areas, go to your local feed store. they will have it. i never checked to see if walmart had it.

yes, you need some kind of conditioner on it. if you dont, it will eventually dry out and crack. ever see a relativly new (5-10 yr old) vehicle with cracked/torn seats? its because the owner never treated them.

How Frequently should they be conditioned to keep them in top shape?

I usually do it once a month.

same here. about once a month. its kinda overkill with the Lexol, but id rather be safe than sorry. at the very LEAST, 3-4 times a year.

i noticed that lexol comes in a spray bottle. is it real thin or does it come out thick? from my experience the thin stuff sucks. the eagle one stuff ive always used, but cant find anymore, was about as thick as skin moisturizer and worked amazingly.

I've tried both the Lexol spray and Coach's bottled conditioner. The Coach conditioner actually leaves a slicker surface on the leather. Now, which one is better? Who knows

well, i just meant that when i use one of the "thinner" ones, afterwards, it doesnt seem to have done anything, really. when i use the "creamy" one, after i take it off, you can tell that the leather has been treated. its tough to explain.

They're in spray bottles but the come out fairly thick, not as thick as the creme but it's pretty thick. Try it out, if you don't like it, return it.

billy, if you unscrew the cap and look in the bottle, does it look like the consistency of, like, hand moisturizer?

Oh crap...I was talking about one of my friends over IM when I was typing that. I wasn't concentrating when I was writing the thread. I'm sorry. :o

Anyways...As always, you need to shake the bottles well first like with a lot of products that aren't concentrated. But once it's shaken but not "stirred", unscrew the cap and you'll see the thickness. Not as thick as hand mooisturizer but a little thinner.

No problem bud. ;)

On a side note, I love the repairs and additions. Looks brand new. Glad everything worked out well...other than your exhaust.

What a joke that place is so overpriced it's crazy case in point Dead Link Removed That's right a $40 wash bucket if you'd buy that I feel sory for you, you probably don't even notice the tatto on your forehead that says "SUCKER" They also have a hose reel on there for $129!!!!! I'll roll my hose my self thank you very much $129 HA!! Most of their product seems pretty overpriced too. And since they are selling 3M stuff on thier site I think it might not be a bad guess to say they are selling re-badged 3M stuff. It's good stuff but not for the money that site is selling it for!

Well you dont have to like ALL the stuff they sell. You just have to know your prices like anywhere you shop. And I am not saying you have to buy there bucket for $40 and yes that is HIGH. But if you just looked at the basic cleaning stuff its not high in my book. $9 for a 32 oz Quick Detailer for example is a great buy because I have tried a lot of quick detailers and they dont wipe off easy, but this stuff wipes off really easy and leave a great shine and the rest of there BASIC CLEANING products are all about under $9 for a 32oz bottle. But GRIOTS GARAGE is not for everyone.
