I just picked up a 2012 Explorer, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how to route a cable for charging my phone. I like the idea of using the built-in USB socket so I can both charge and play media via the single USB cable, but there doesn't appear to be an easy way to route the cable from that compartment in the console. I don't like the idea of jamming the cord in there when I close the door, and I don't want to have to leave it open either.

I was thinking about drilling a small hole in the back of the compartment door that wouldn't be too visible, but I'm not sure I'm ready to start poking holes in it yet.

Otherwise, I love my new to me Explorer!

How about wireless charger and Bluetooth combo?

You can remove the gray trim and put the wires behind it and then it easy to conceal the wires to the front compartment where the USB ports are.
