Hi

I have a 2000 V8 and am planning to remove the A/C system as it has never worked. (Also don't need it in the UK)

Do I need to run a different belt or can I leave the compressor in place?

I would like to remove as much as possible.

Thanks

suppose the compressor can be left but its uselessly spinning but i wonder if you keep oil in it? not too sure

Just remove it and run a non-ac model belt. Otherwise, the compressor clutch can still fail.

This^^^

You can run it with everything but the compressor removed until you get the right belt. Remove what you want to remove, and disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor so the clutch doesn’t engage.

Maybe cut the lines at the compressor and crimp them so you don’t leak PAG oil in the mean time?

Is there such a thing? I have never seen a non-AC V8 2nd gen.

83 1/4” belt is posted to work here on a V8 with the compressor removed.

The other option is a compressor bypass pulley.
