Ok, so I'm getting ready to do a v8 swap on my 2000 Ford explorer. I already did one motor swap on it with the 4.0 and I regret it. I have a 1997 mountaineer as my donor vehicle. Need some tips on how to make this work.

Is your 2000 ex lifted or has lots of mods? It might be easier and cheaper to just fix up the mountaineer and sell the 2000 depending on the amount of items to transfer unless your donor is wrecked of course. Just saying if I had a close to stock vehicle but wanted a V8 I'd just buy a V8 truck and start over fresh. As much as I love my ex if I were to start at the beginning all over again I would have gone a slightly different route with what I know now over the years I've been building on it. But I'm too attached to it now to turn back.

Nothing is wrong with the donor except I bought it from our impound yard and it doesn't have a title. It would take months to get one

I actually agree with BigRed. Wait for the Title. A LOT LESS work to do that. can have the 2000 for a donor. But also there are a lot of people on here that have done a V8 swap. If you can post up pics and keep us posted on what you plan.

Well as it stands for now I am starting the swap first thing tomorrow on my day off I will post pictures to keep people updated it's going to be a pain in my ass but I think it's going to be worth it I've had my Explorer for 10 years now and have put almost 200,000 miles on it since I have owned it it is at 260,000 miles right now so to me it is worth keeping

I hear you it's hard to let em go I won't even let anybody drive mine unless it's an emergency.

Know what you are talking about sir. Look forward to seeing pics and I am Staying Subscribed to this thread :-)

I will keep up the best I can on updates but as far as pictures I will take him throughout the swap but I will not post them until after I am finished I'm not going to lie I am very excited about doing this not looking forward to the work but in my heart I believe it's worth it

It'll suck but when it's done and in the past you'll be happy.
