after changing both timing chain tensioners and fixing the chain rattle, my explorer developed a new rattle in both heads. more on the driver side but on both. i pulled the front tensioner out wondering if it was bad and noticed that it was dry, no oil in the piston. i am going to check the pressure at the sending unit tomorrow. any ideas, dont think tensioners had anything to do with it but any ideas or input would be helpful.

hydraulic lash adjusters?

The hydraulic lash adjusters rely on oil pressure to maintain the correct valve lash. They often drain when the engine is apart for an extended period. If drained, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes of driving at cruise for them to pressurize.
