OK, I know a few of us have been dying to get a run organized. So lets do it. My proposal is early September. I would like to go someplace where we can do some crawling. The last time I went to GWNF near Harrisonburg, we actualy had some 2 wheelers as well. I don't know about Grozet maybe Unclemeat has been there. I would like some time to gather some spares and maybe rebuild the LS rear end. It needs new clutches I think. I also think it would be fun to camp out up there as well. Lets make it a couple days. Meet up Friday and wheel Saturday and Sunday. So lets start brain stormin now.

ok im 2wd so think kindly for me. LS rear? I just rebuilt my ford one with new clutch packs 2 weeks ago. Rebuild kit is 80$ from ford

Did you notice a difference after the rebuild? In the mud, mine makes a wizzing noise. How hard is it to do? As far as 2wd is concerned Well just HAMMER DOWN:burnout:

oh i know. I tested her out the other night on the gvt hole off birdneck (ssshhhhhhhhh!) and made it with no problems. The rebuild is a PITA. Its easy to do but to shim it correctly is a pain. I had to take mine apart like 4 times and the Z spring is the pain. When I do my gears soon Im getting an aussie with 4:88's

i'd be up for it if i finish my truck in time..

I thought the clutches could be removed without taking out the carrier?

96X,
What are you doing to your X?

no. if you have a place to do it I'll help

I also read that you add clutches to it to make it grab better. That is a trick I used to do on my dirt bike. I have a decent siz garage so maybe sometime soon. Thanks for the offer.

any mud out there today?

tt, aal, shackles and a 3" body lift with 33x12.50 tires for right now waiting on more money to buy the body lift and tires (body lift will be bought next pay check and im going to see if my dad will give me some money to help with the cost of the tires) i hope to get that done by end of summer.

I have not had a chance to go to Crozet. I should be ready by September. I blew up my motor this past weekend in the mud bog, but I think I got a spare. I still may try to go to Crozet or the GWNF before September.

I have a 4.0 in my garage you can have if you need something to get on the road with. It has about 220K but seem to run fine. Also, there was a 2000 explorer at U Wrench It. You could get the lonblock for 99 bucks if its still there. it looked OK to me, I took the power steering pump off of it. The back of the truck was burnt from fire wall back. I only swapped out the motor because I wanted some new blood. How in the hell did you blow your motor?? Maybe oil pump failed or something? Since you live near Richmond, give me 40 bucks for gas and I will deliver. I think thats fair. Hell for 70, I'll throw in the new engine stand its on.

I think I blew it up in the middle of the mud bogg. I lost power and sank, then sucked mud into the intake and stalled. We have not yet changed the oil and pulled the plugs yet to see if the mud was the culprit. I got it to restart and run without any noise, but I think I cracked a ring or piston.

Thanks for the offer. I have a spare motor but I am not sure of its condition other than it runs. I may let you know later this week or after the weekend once we get to see what happened, and check out the spare motar.

I have some people to help me who are real mechanics, and access to a small shop. So I am thinking now would be a good time to build a motor.

unclemeat, this is your time to build the bottom and and add an aggressive cam. Hope everything works out well.

-Doing my body lift this weekend....... Anyone want to join?

Sorry buddy you picked the wrong weekend. What the hell do you need more lift for? Are your tires rubbing? Bring it up to high and it will look strange, not to mention it will lean like crazy. Your truck looks good as it is. As for building a motor, i have a supercharger in my garage waiting to go on as soon as I get 1K for the adapter kit. :D

unclemeat,
Just let me know. The motor would only be a temp while waiting to get you something better. It has a lot of carbon buildup on it because I used to put all of those engine protectant stuff in there. I wouldnt use it long term. But like I said, its free to a good home.

Any pics of the bog? How deep is it?

Actually i need to bring the tortion bars down because it is so stiff. Im going to take a leaf out of the rear too. That will give me at least 1'' -1.5''s of drop. Then i'll do a 3'' body lift to make up fro the drop and then some. I will probibly end up cutting it down to a 2'' though. I got a week of vacation so I got soem time to play.

I might take a drive out to slades park and see if its realy open.

Did anybody see Crozet has a write up in the newest 4-wheel and offroad? Looks very challenging. But there are three levels of trails. I am still up for a late summer early run. I should have my X running by then.

I want to but I want to install a front Aussie locker and rebuild the rear LS Diff before. I will be in the UK for a couple of weeks July/August. But after that I'm hip.

BoominX,
Do you know a guy that drives a blue 1st gen with a 4" lift? Saw it over at the Wal Mart on Nimmo Pkwy.
