Going to be doing some welding on the tubes of an 8.8 rear. Can anyone tell me what is the wall thickness? Just curious more then anything.

Should be 1/4", maybe 3/8", cant remember.

That' about what I thought. Should be able to get some good penetration with the weld. Thanks.

Ditto, it's not that thick. Why are you welding it, and where? Please post some pictures.

I've seen reports of both .250" (1/4") and .180" (3/16"). Certainly it's no thicker or thinner than that though.

Plenty of us have welded to this and other axles w/o any issues. So I'd say weld away!

My sentiments exactly.
CDW, I'm building a rear radius arm/coilovers on my B2. All ready have front coilovers on and gonna try all 4 corners. I have drummed 8.8 under it now. But I have another disc 8.8 that will hopefully go under the B2. This way I hope there is not too much down time between pulling the drum one out and the disc in. I've already made my front arm connections at the frame.
I should have some pics of the rear link connection brackets at the rear today.
You can see progress, and I use that term loosely HA HA on how it's going on my build site. It may be done a little differently then most, but what has not been different on this build LOL
When this project is finished and the front end makes it out of the garage and the back end does not hit the door jamb, that will be at least a good start HA HA

Very good, big fun.

I've heard they switched somewhere mid 2nd gen going to the thinner tubing in the later years. It would be nice to get verification.
