WAR153 Shackles

JayR,
The rancho shocks for a stock first generation explorer are the same shocks you use for the Rancho 2.5" lift. That is why they look the lame length.. They are.. (at least for the Rs9000's).

As for putting Add-a-leafs and the Warrior shackles.. We have a James Duff lift. It comes with an add-a-leaf and a 6.5" long shackle (stock on our '92 was 5.5").. We replaced the Duff Shackle with the Warrior shackle and ended up with a 3"ish lift. We would have had more but with over 150k miles on the orig springs they were sagging quite a bit.

We now have the Warrior Shackles and OME springs.. We have about 3.5" of lift (closer to 4) over what we had when we were stock. The front is now only using the Duff brackets and 2.5" springs but we like the look with the rear higher than the front. This is mainly due to the front bumper which makes the front look higher than it really is.

I have the add a leaf and WP shackles as well. The stock shocks weren't strong enough to absorb the stiffened suspension and added height. I bought Monroe Reflex Truck shocks all around and they are stock length. With almost 3" added to the rear the shocks work great and I haven't had any problems with articulation being hampered. They work pretty good actually.

i hate to beat a dead horse with this thread being so old. sorry, but here goes. i ordered my war 153's from jcwhitney on friday october 27. it has been 10 days and nothing yet. if anyone else has ordered from them, how long does it take to receive them? also, i have a friend with a 98 sport with the monoleafs in the rear. will these shackels work on those springs. thanks and sorry again for bringing an old thread out of hibernation.

I don't know how long it takes to get something from JC whitney, but the shackles will work on a sport with monoleaf.

Hey Matt, Nice action picture. I like! How do u like those new rims, i ordered the same ones with 33 x 12.50's. They have a 3.25 offset so that should be good. NICE TRUCK, and im glad to see it does get used offroad.

Doug,

Unfortunately, JC Whitney told me that orders from the factory can take up to 4 weeks to arrive. I ordered a set of WAR153's last wednesday. Hopefully your's will arrive before mine (for your sake).

Ben

Should have ordered them from Desert Rat like I said. I got them in 4 days. They already have them in stock so you don't have to wait for the factory.

JayR, thanks! I love the rims and look better clean. As for action, I take it out as much as I cam. Going back again on the 18th of Nov. Body lift(3") is also being installed in a month or so. I bet those 33" will look bad ass. My next set will be 32 or 33's.

Desert Rat Wasn't Any Faster

I tried to order the shackles from Desert Rat 3 weeks ago. I called them to make sure they had shipped, and was told they were out of stock. Frustrated with the fact that they didn't tell me this when I ordered them, I cancelled the order and went with JC Whitney. At least they told me up front that the order would take 2-4 weeks to ship. Just my 2 cents.

Hey matt, I hope you wernt by yourself. I learned that lesson the hard way, you gotta walk and find someone. I got stuck like that this weekend but on my web site I was the one taking the pictures so there arnt any of me. U think that roll sucked, that guy just tilted to its sidd. U know rock crusher bumpers, i watched a 97 tj roll down a hill end over end 2 with like a 1 1/2 twist and the the bumpers were fine. He was ok but none of us will ever run that hill again. Ill post those pictures after his insurance fixes it. what offsets are your rims??? 3.25? minea re im just wonderin how far they will stand out.

I like this one. Those trees just jump out of no where dont they, We all wish we could just push them out of the way. I also like the one with the doodlebugs(aka ATVer's) So did you get out ok?

I Just ordered mine from Desert Rat, Paid the extra to ship them to me sooner, so I should have them here by the weekend(I Hope!) I'll let you know if I do infact get them on time.

WANT THEM FAST?

listen, if you want your shackles fast, call wp and ask them for the closest dealer that handles their product to your location. Then go down to the place and order and pay for them. They will be drop shipped from wp to you. Orderd mine on a thursday, had them on tuesday. This is the most direct route to wp. if you guys are having that much trouble getting them, you could paypal me the cash and i could give them your address foir the drop shipment.

BlueDog,

I tried that route and there is only ONE 4x4 shop and it's an hour from me. The guys was a total ass, I had to come down to his shop and hand him cash(hey, that ryhmes) Anyway, good idea BlueDog for those who are close to a good 4x4 shop.

JayR, I was with a guy in a ranger and he winched me out. That was the only part of the trail that I had to get winched out of. It was really tight and I couldn't back up, my tail pipe was dug into the hill behind me. I was trying to get a good line to go over that jeep trap and got wedged....go figure! The ATVer's were cool, they watched and helped when needed. Those pictures where from a trail made for ATV's and was considered advanced for 4x4's. That's why it was tight most of the time, but real fun!

My rims are 3.25" backspace.

P.S. I will be moving to CT in about a year or so. Maybe we can wheel together. MD is close.

They should fir with a class III hitch.
They replace the Original Shcakles, and if the Original's fit then Warrior's should fit. I think that they might even give you more room, since Warrior's are Flat Stock welded together, when Ford's are heavy gauge sheet metal Bent in the shale of an "L".
