Hi everyone,
My 1999 four door E/B is leaking water on the drivers side floor board and I need some help in stopping the leak. I have (and the auto glass shop) confirmed that the windshield and sunroof are leak free. The other area that was problematic was the rubber boot that covers the wire harness running into the door pillar on the drivers side. The boot pulled away from the pillar because it was torn and you can't replace the boot. However the shop sealed the boot and pillar, so that is leak free now.
So where is the water getting in??? The shop pulled the wipers and the plastic cowl covers under the windshield to reveal the area underneath. It appears clean and rust free in there. He also used a hose under the hood along the firewall and behind the brake booster, and nothing leaked.
He hit the jackpot when he poured water over the drivers side stud for the wiper, from there the water came right into the truck. On the inside it seems like it is entering from an area that is concealed by the E brake assembly. He didn't remove the E brake assembly since they are a glass shop, and not a repair shop. He gave up at that point.
So at this point I am at a loss in figuring this out. Should I remove the E brake assembly? If so, how do I remove that part? It looks to be bolted to the body but how do I deal with the cable?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Zack
