Most local auto parts stores carry a ford fan clutch wrench set for sale. I picked mine up at checker for i think 25 bucks. Be careful with the one from checker though it is made out of cheap metal and when i was trying to loosen the nut it was so tight that it started bending the wrench apart and then it stripped the nut
I second Autozone. They have a wide selection of quality loaner tools and will provide you with the proper size wrenches you will need(should come in a kit).
Best of all is it's free! As long as you bring them back.
i am an idiot, i just realized i was turning it the wrong way. i tried for a couple hours and had a couple friends come over to help, and the whole time none of us realized we were turning it the wrong way. i dont wanna talk about it lol. im gonna try it THE RIGHT WAY after i eat dinner
ughh... all this stupid wrench is doing is stripping the nut, and the other wrench type thing to hold the clutch isnt even the right size! im about to give up and bring it to my mechanic but i dont have any money... this is ridiculous
I know I'm a couple days late. But when I did this job, I used the bigger wrench to hold the pulley. It actually uses the pulley bolts and I used channel locks on the actual nut...

this morning i towed it to my job (body shop). my boss is gonna crack the nut for me and im gonna go from there. i believe im going to start tomorrow. this HAS to be done before prom weekend or im gonna be really pissed!
alright i towed it to my job, and me and my boss tried to get it off with an air chisel, and it didnt work! i dont know what to do, im at a loss. im thinking maybe unbolt the water pump where its attached to whatever its attached to and take it out along with the fan and get it off after that while its out... what do you guys think?
FINALLY some good news! today we got the fan off with an air chisel and i got the fan shroud out. got most of the hoses off and all bolts except for one holding the water pump on. i would have finished but my boss needed to go home so ill finish tomorrow hopefully. but ofcourse it wouldnt be a smurf project unless i got shafted atleast once on every step of the process. 9 dollars for 4 inches of hose, what the hell is that about?
Every project is like that for me too. Nothing is just simple unbolt and bolt. Always something breaks/strips/gets stick/gets lost. Its always something but the project is always eventually done.
yea the only project ive done where everything came through perfectly was when i fixed my truck after the accident... actually no i take that back, the left fender flare still doesnt fit right lol
