water temp guage

is it normal for the temp gauge to go up and down while driving at a steady pace on a 5.0 engine. my ranger and zx2 dont do this.

the coolant in my reservoir is high and the radiator is low. i am thinking it may be the cap. anybody care to comment on this?

Could be. The cap is supposed to let more coolant in so sounds like it's not working out well. I had the same issue and found my coolant to be low once, but I have a different issue.

But the cap is cheap and easy to replace anyway.
