Hey guys Luna here again i’ve been waiting for the egr block off plate to show up and today it did! So i was set to put on my new weber carb. What I totally missed is that it isn’t an electric choke like the last one but a manual choke. but the old carb also had another line for the choke? i’m not sure i’m learning as I go. I spent 7hr trying to get my weber in my truck. I had to cut a bolt that was stripped and I also cleaned up the vacuumed lines and harnesses. I am having a problem w the choke, there was another line connect to my carb even tho it was electric choke and i think that was the choke too? idk but it leads to the cabin and i was wondering if anyone has installed a manual choke on their truck and how it is set up or how they did it! i appreciate all the feedback and im looking into getting a different starter for my truck fingers crossed it fits and doesn’t bang! i’m doing the shocks all around maybe on mon! so looking forward to that fs then the brakes all around. but anyway off topic i really need help w the manual choke. I don’t know much about carbs or how to set it up pls help a guy out thank yall! it’s 4am in cali rn and ill be working on it tmrw around 9-10am try to get it running will check in and update! pictures too! i’m trying to keep track of the trucks progress on instagram @thatoldahhb2k check it out if ya want!

It is awesome the thing really saves me gas even tho i’m always filling up because im driving so much for work lol! If u get a manual choke when it comes to the manual choke cable itself I would fit it in one of those blank squares next to the cigarette lighter. right by the steering wheel the only issue is it will come out every time u pull it out, but if u pull it while holding the square in place it should be fine. I found it easier to drill from the cab out into the engine bay behind the engine on ur drivers side. best way to reach the carb and the choke will engage like it’s supposed to. I had to makeshift a return spring for my throttle because it wasn’t going back into place. I can take pictures if you need me to. sorry for the long time i forget to check on this forum

No, no, you're alright! No need to apologize at all, I go through my funks like that too! I would love to see some pictures, especially so I can figure out how mine goes together. Long story short, I bought my b2000 parked and seized from sitting, top half of the engine already ripped apart, so I gotta figure out how it goes back together once I do unseize it eventually. How much mileage would ya say you're getting? Hoping to use mine for exactly that since my rado gets like 10mpg, explorer will probably get 15-16mpg when running again, so I'd love a better daily lol
Glad it's working out so well for ya! Always heard they were a good addon for these!

I think i’m getting 19-23mpg i just spent a while tryna figure out the gas mileage but yeah and that’s going 55-65mph it’s not going faster than that without wasting a little more so that’s why I wanna engine swap it lol gonna be switching out the injectors and fixing a radiator leak this weekend to get it up and running again. maybe i can get a better reading of the mpg. It def is worth getting man forsure send me a message and when I get to working on it this weekend i’ll try to send some pics of how i got it set up and where I drilled and stuff lol

Sorry I never checked back! Just randomly clicked back in my head! How'd that go? And yeah, still playing out my pros and cons of doing the weber along with my rebuild, or trying to find a kia fe3 to swap in since it bolts right up to our tranny. Plus ya go from carb to fuel injection that way, and should be close to 25mpg or better, problem is finding one of those engines, let alone in rwd. Still trying to even get my engine to spin freely though, and sadly it ain't been high enough on my priority list. But anyway, again sorry about the lack of a response! And there's my suggestion for an engine swap if ya still want to try that later!

Dude, I have three projects of my own, not to mention trying to fix and modify my girlfriends car, I don't have time either lol

But I appreciate it, hope everything will be moving soon! While waiting on the explorer valve body gasket, I may go try to get the mazda freed up again. Just worried about stripping the crank bolt since it already slipped some, but I got bolt extractor sockets now if I need 'em. May go ahead and order another crank bolt too..
But my projects, besides the mazda, won't be gone into any depth here due to lack of relevance and wanting to keep this thread to the OPs original intent.

yes bro i’ve been looking way more into the fe3 someone on fb makes the wiring for it to plug and play which is dope asf so i’m thinking of buying a fe3 tearing it down and rebuilding the engine maybe hopefully w a turbo for the truck cuz im tired of how slow it is lol the engine shouldn’t matter if its fwd or rwd i think i saw someone say that it was fine it would still mate up to the tranny. me too man i haven’t been updating anything i just had to replace the drive shaft and trans cuz it took a **** on me omw to work lol will maybe try to make a post and show pics of how the trans was and what i tried doing to save the old driveshaft but man it was annoying

Go for it, some interesting details and pictures for sure! Sorry they crapped on ya though, glad it sounds like it's kinda squirt away now! And really?? You'll have to send me the link for that! I just assumed I was gonna have to nab the fe3 harness and do my best to hardwire it in, that would be so much easier if that link exists! I'm pretty sure it's rwd only, but I could be wrong, I can't hardly find either worth a crap near me anyway sadly; maybe it's a preference thing, i would think a fwd engine being sideways would be a bit more annoying to pull than a straight forward rwd one. Now with a turbo would be awesome, but that fe3 should have a lil' more power anyway, not a lot, but a lil'! I've thought about and even saved turbo kits for this engine, though I'm worried how much that'll steal my mileage away.

Another swap a few people on here suggested on my thread, are kubota swaps, if ya want mileage and some power that is. It's a bit more involved since you'd have to hardwire pretty much everything, fab the mounts, adapters, change to diesel fuel and what not; but, I saw someone take a smaller kubota engine, and completely build it for mileage that was swapped into an old Saturn car, up to 80+mpg....80!!!!! So in this lil' truck, should easily get quite close to that! Just food for thought!
