Ok..when I activate the alarm, the horn goes a quick "beep". Which I'm assuming is it telling me that it is on.

So I test it out and try to open my door. All that happends is the interior lights come on...WTF??? And you can see everything inside the truck (I have 35% tint)

So this means..if thief wants to check and see if my door is unlocked. He'll try...then the lights will come on so he can see if he wants anything enough to break the window.... and the alarm won't even start beeping??? :thumbdwn:

I guess the only fix is to buy an aftermarket alarm system

Or switch your interior lights off.

Do you have a switch that rotates, like a scroll knob?
Rotate it all the way down, same knob that adjusts brightness of instrument cluster lights

Check this out. Get in the truck with the doors locked and the keys out of the switch. When you pull the handle to get out, the alarm will go off. Found this out on a camping trip. Woke everyone up

I believe the factory alarms are not activated by the dome light like aftermarkets are. They are triggered by the switch in the doors. maybe the door ajar signal. The factory alarms are just basic without shock sensors or dome light triggers. But have hood triggers as my 96 has one.

Youre right system sux. Tried turning knob all the way down Worked lika charm, but . . . now when I open drivers door guess what? NO LIGHTS ! ! ! Catch 22. Sister is laughing her azz off since she is the one who figured out lights cams on when keyless pad button ( any ) was pressed. I am currently trying to find out if that can be deactivated.
