You'll want a total of about 7-8" of lift to decrease the amount of trimming involved, or get perry's fiberglass fenders.

option 1) 2" Torsion twist + 3" lift spindles in front, 5-6" SOA in rear.
PLUS 2 or 3" body lift

option 2) the 5" suspension lift as outlined above.
PLUS Perry's fab n' fiber fenders on all 4 corners.

IMO those are your best options. Good luck!

thanks for the help now i'm starting to get the idea on how much this is all gonna cost is it better to start off small and bulid up to the 35's or is it better to get what u want first? witch is ez er

It'll be cheaper in the longrun to just do it all at once. If you want to go the fender route, you can do the 5" lift now and go with 33s, then go to the fenders and 35s later.

TT: free
spindles: 500?
body lift: 200-300?
SOA: 100-200?
fenders: 350-400 front, 500 rear?

Notice how those are estimates. It depends on the deals you get and how much work you do yourself. Overall, a 2wd later model is much easier to lift because those spindles are only available for the 2wd and you don't have to worry about cranking the torsion bars up too much.

Oh, and don't forget the alignment at the end ;)

But there are other variables that may come into play here:

- you will prolly have to regear the diff with 35s
- you may have to extend the drfiveshaft with the SOA
- you may need to replace brakelines

Very true, very true

I am also interested in this. Will the tranny/engine be able to handle 35's?

I have the older tranny model.

With proper gearing and maintenance, the Explorer drivetrain is pretty stout. We do know the A4LD tranny family isn't the best, but there are plenty of members running 33s and 35s on theirs without any more problems than stock.

Ahhjaws

Either 5.5, or 6 inch suspension, with 3 inch body lift for the first genrations, gearing will help any drive train issues, the only down side is front wheel bearings, the 35's are tough on them.
