My buddy punched the windshield of his dads truck and was "borrowing" it at my house while safelite came and fixed it. He needed a car for the day so I let him take mine. He failed to keep right while impressing his girlfriend and wrecked my truck. He broke it, he will buy it. Now it has to go through my insurance, second one totaled this year... At least no one got hurt.
I hate to say this but this is gonna be an issue with your insurance. If your friend wasn't on the insurance to drive the truck they may refuse the claim stating the driver was not insured under your policy. I've seen it happen before.. I had a friend who let a coworker borrow his car and needless to say he wrecked it and the owner was stuck at the cost of the repairs since the driver wasn't on the policy.
This might sound like a dumb question, but why should this go through YOUR insurance? He bombs your truck, you get a second hit on your policy in a year- assuming they approve it- and your rates skyrocket becasue he's a clown? I'd ask his dad for a check...

That sucks guy, I don't know about everyone but my insurance will go with me to whatever car I drive. They will insure me for anything I drive, granted my rates will go up from it but I'm covered under any car I drive weather its mine or not. I thought this was normal for most insurances. I would make your buddy file an insurance claim, he wrecked it, his insurance should pay for it.
For what ever reason my insurance took the hit $7,200 to me, not sure how much the other car was. I'm a little pissed but hey, its only money. My friend is ok, and gf is ok too. Considering I bought the X for 3,800 I'm not that mad. I had figured that everything I put into it I would not get back the whole time I worked on it. Hopefully some day I can look at it as chump change and laugh....
