Is this a joke? hehehe

I use 4LO for 4wheeling, anytime the trail gets loose, steep, slippery, whatever I am in low range. Heck I used to use it to pull my boat up the ramp too, but that was to save my clutch....

The BW 1354 T case has a sweet ass low range, take advantage of it, with the OHV, auto, and low range will get me crawling up and over just about anything......

Isn't that against some law or something? :D

My rear was parked right up against a huge trash dumpster that would have been impossible to move.
The A-hole Trooper owner left me two inches between my bumper and his.
It was 7pm in downtown Houston, I have know idea who this person is, where they are at, and what time they would be coming back.
To me there was no choice and I have no regrets.
And hopefully next time the Trooper owner will be more mindful of how they park.

I'm a pretty courteous and safe driver. But, I don't have too much respect for those that aren't. I've been known to hit my brakes suddenly to people who tailgate me, just to wake them up. :D

Ive got a manual BW 1354. :D

hey, me too:D I use 4wd Low range all the time when I'm offroading. Rocks are not something you want to be moving fast over, and it's a lot easier on the truck if you can idle over most terrain. I'm also always in low range when I'm playing recovery vehicle

I guess my manual tranny screwed me on this 4lo issue.

I use 4-low any time I am four wheeling and want to keep my speed below 40 MPH (which is any time that I am four wheeling). If i am on a dirt fire road and am seeing speeds above 40 MPH, I'll usually put it in 4x4 High. I use 4x4 High whenever I am in snow that is deeper than about 12", otherwise I just leave it in Auto.

My use for 4low is when im (here in alaska) drifting around on the snow-covered lakes, to save wear on my tranny. I can do anything in 4h i can in 4l, i think.

I use 4Lo for climbing and pulling 18 wheelers out of the mud at work.

Always use 4lo off road, as soon as the wheels leave pavement.

Only time I have truely used 4lo (not just driving a bit to maintain it) was pulling my friend's big ass fullsized blazer out of the mud. I dont even want to think what would have happened to my trannie/clutch if I hadn't used it, but in 4lo it was no biggie... just a tug on a tow strap tied to a hitch and he was out, no problem. I can see using 4lo if you plan on taking it slow and safe on a trail. Lots of torque + low rpms = good pulling with less wear.

Pulling people out and climbing mud hills at construction sites.

Tarheel im just wondering. I noticed in some other thread you say you go 4 wheeling and i also noticed you pulled people out of the snow. Why wouldnt you use 4 lo for those situations? Ive found 4 lo to be invaluable for climbing over obstacles. My truck wouldnt make it over most rocks or up steep hills if i wasnt in low.

I use it when it will ease the load on the engine/transmission. Among the more interesting uses was going camping up in the Uintas. The road going up to the camp site is a good gravel road (really don't even need 4x4) but it does climb quickly. Pulling my tent trailer, discovered that, even at 25 mph, the transmission wasn't shifting out of 1st because of the grade. The engine was running hot and obviously working hard, so I tried dropping it to low (had auto hubs, so didn't have 2L option) and the truck climbed the mountain a lot better and the engine ran a lot cooler.

HHHEEEE!

I use it for pulling out bushes and trees!!:D

That sounds like a fairly destructive use for 4lo. :D I hope they are YOUR trees.

I've got a travel trailer that weighs about 3500lb empty, I figure about 4500lb when loaded for camping.

On one family camping trip, in North Carolina, we got to a campground and asked if they had a site with a little privacy. Well, they said they had a few spots where they used to have some A-frame cabins, just down a side road. The sites were up a hill of clay and dirt and it had rained earlier in the day. Couldn't get up in 2Hi, just spun the back wheels, but 4Lo worked just great!

On that same trip we got to a state park, the roads were paved, but the entrance road into the park had a curved and very steep hill. The transmission was slipping too much, so I put it in 2Lo (love manual hubs!) and accidentally squawked the tires when I started up the hill again.

And I have to agree, the 4Lo works great for bush removal -- although I was disappointed that I didn't even need to touch the gas to pull it out... :)

uhh, i usually use it to tow your mom around. Just kidding, all the time on steep trails and also if I bury my tires in the sand. It always pulls right out with those nice wide 33's. It sure saves my clutch. W/o low, i couldn't make it through have the stuff that I have

Ohhh I wish I had low :( Then again... 5.0 :D
