im holding my own runs new head job after a sucked valve a crossed wire ... i got it together again new rods lifters rockers but i got a bad rough tick one of the boys is clacking ive taken out the rocker assembly and inspected the rods and surfaces of the rockers no signs of dents or pitting what could it be i havent gone in to look at the lifters id have to pull the heads im questioning a new lifter with a faulty self adjuster set up like someone forgot the BB ... it was an oversized valve job magnafluxed at a professional machine shop it quiets down after time like the old calamity but its louder than when i started thinking about new parts ....there is other issues i want to relate to wear and oil vis the trouble light routine regarding engine speed rarely comes up logical its an old system that needs translated into a newer diag oil vis is always suspect

It's been awhile, but I don't think you need to remove the heads to remove the lifters. I believe you can remove them with just the intake manifold off.

Well said, if you can't understand what is being asked, ask for clarification. I've made posts that look similar to the OP. I got sick last year the day after thanksgiving and never really got over it yet. I have brain fog, I forget what I'm doing, what day of the week it is, etc.

A bad lifter wouldn't be out of the question. I put a top of the line set in my Harley a while ago and sure enough a defective one. Sounded like a hammer beating on a cast iron frying pan.
