Hello,

My names is Mike (A new member)and i have a low mileage 07 Explorer XLT that im puttin new tires on...looking for some input on the matter. I want a great tire and im considering the Michelin LTX At2's , not a cheap tire. Whats the tire of choice here for the explorer?? I should say that i pull my 19ft runabout with my explorer so i want an agressive tire for a slippery boat launch ... thanks so much for your opinions!!

Mike

The LTX will be a good tire. If you have a 4wd, I wouldnt worry so much about an "aggressive" tire - just engage 4HI to get out of the ramp (drive straight, dont turn) and once you are out, turn it off.

Michelin
LTX M/S P235/75R15
great tires!

My Ex wears General Grabbers AT2. Awesome tire.

Anybody have the Michelin LTX At2's ?? Wonder how they compare with the LTX M/S ??

Thanks Again for your input!!!!

Tires

BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO

Same here. Very happy with them.

Had Bridgestone Dueler Revo A/Ts previously. They were great in nearly all conditions (not for serious off roading). Only complaint was really short tread life.

i have both General Graber AT2 and in winter i have Firestone Winterforce. Both are great tires.

i have 245/65-17's in Michelin LTX At2s.
I'd say the are on the soft side, some minor road noise, but great traction in rain, snow, dirt, mud, never had a problem at the boat launch either last year, but i'm only pulling out 400lbs. . .

pricey, but i had a set on my '96 heep for 8-9years and 70k and they still had 3/32's left when i replaced them, due to two slow leaks and one was cupped due to worn ball joints.

although i don't think its the tires but i've been having trouble getting them balanced, but it could be a lot of things, something else like the rim corrosion,

I dont want to end up in the river

Hello My name's Carl I'm a new member and looking for new tires for a 2001 sport 4x4 4.0 ( new tow vehicle). Not into the mud much any more, wanting something with a good ride, low noise, but need an A/T tire for when I'm pulling my 17' 2000/lb fishing boat up my boat ramp when it's slick. Thinking about the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2 , or Michelin LTX A/T 2 .I've had Michelin's on most of my rides lately (cant beet the tread life on them) but they tend not to grip well on wet or slick ramps (harder tread compound's?) I've been told that the Bridgestone's will grip better at the expense of tread life (softer tread). Any insights....Thanks

heres how the bridgestone look:
Surveyed Averages 1 100% 8.7 9.0 9.2 9.0 9.5 9.0 9.1 8.8 7.7 9.0 8.8 8.1 480,103 Average is 8.8
Heres the Michelins look:
3 98% 8.5 8.8 8.9 8.4 9.0 8.5 8.8 8.5 8.1 8.9 8.8 9.0 2,551,595
Average 8.68
these are the numbers from tirerack...10 being the highest...

So the bridgestone beat out the michelins and are rated number one as opposed to number 3 on the Michelins...people reporting miles are 480,000 for bridgestone and 2.5 million for michelins.....

I got the Michelins, as in my opinion they are the best tires and ive done well with them.....looks like either ones a winner....

Bridgestone Dueller AT Revo. Wore terribly quickly.

bfg muds, probably gonna go with Goodyear duratrac's next
