Ok, After reading a couple of posts, I decided to take my upper intake of, and re-tighten the lower intake manifold bolts. Well, after 190,000 miles, there was a considerate amount of crap built up in the upper intake. So I used a whole can of carb cleaner on it, , which hardly fazed the intake runners. Ive seen some people talk about using something by Amsoil, but ive never seen any amsoil products around my house. I wouldve went hunting for something, but I needed to put the intake back on to go somewhere. My spark knock was absolutely horrible! You really have no idea. Id say now 90% of it is gone, and I can almost floor it now! As soon as I get something to clean the runners out I think it will be running good again. I tried all the fixes before, and apparently so had the person that I got the info from. Now all I need are new plugs and wires.

i'd love to open it up and clean all this, how can i do it, and how long does it take, the only inside of the engine cleanin i have done, is the throttle body, i have sprayed the cleaner in there, and it helped a little.

Id say it took me an hour and a half to do it all. its pretty simple.

Remove the intake tube.

Remove the throttle body, and set it to the side. I didnt care to remove the linkage. There is a small vac line on the bottom holding onto it also.

Remove the 3 sensors on the driver's side of the upper intake, and the vac lines that all tie in above the PCV. Remove the PCV also.

Remove the wires, and the coil. There are 6 bolts at the base of the upper intake, remove them, and it will come right off. There are 8 bolts holding it on. Re tighten them in this order.

Front of vehicle.

A haynes Manual shows the locations of the bolts, and the sequence also.

I would suggest getting a new gasket to go in-between the upper intake and the fuel rail. If you have the time, now is a great time to get your injectors cleaned.

Re-assemble.

Kleen-Flo has an Air Intake System cleaner that "may" help. I've heard (but not tried) of a process called "motor-vaccing" that has impressed many techs. It does require specialized equipment so check your local shops to see if they offer this service.
