I'd like an obd2 scan tool that can control things like the evap solenoid etc. My current scanner is very limited and no bidirectional. I was looking at Autel Maxsys stuff and it's WAY outta my price range. If there's decent software for a laptop I'm ok with that. Around $500 would be ok but I've got some room if needed. Anyone have recommendations?

Forscan for laptop is the way to go. Free if you want to renew trial every 30 days. You can buy a license for WAY less than $500. The downside is that it only works on Fords.

If you want something that powerful across many/all makes…it’s gonna cost you quite a bit.

Cheap / powerful / versatile…choose two.

Forscan is great for these trucks though

The launch x431 is under $1k but I don't know how good it is.
