Whats the point of AutoZone?

If it is a corporate run company they do a very piss poor job, and all of these managers need to find other jobs. Maybe without all of the managerial fat they could employ someone who isn't brain dead.

I agree. Corporate is full of people that have never actually worked in a retail store and want to turn Autozone into a Walmart. They have no clue how a store actually works and what people actually want. There is so much crap on the floor that never gets sold it isn't funny.

honestly i didn't read the whole thread but for anything auto related OTHER than parts, ie wax wash oil, little stuff, WALMART usually has it and its alot cheaper

ive also found its useless to wait and ask for help, i walk around the store a few times if i dont find it i leave, and still probibly spend less time than waiting and asking someone only to get the " i think that stuff is over there " answer

I don't see how it is much different than walmart. All of the parts are subpar, cheap, and mostly Chinese, and they have the bad habit of putting up too many stores in a market area. Then they run out any real auto stores, and the town is saturated with their crappy help, parts, and service. Sounds like walmart to me.

I bought a set of brake pads for a neighbor of mine. It turned out that they were low on brake fluid, and the pads that were already in their car looked exactly like the ones that I just bought. They also had very minimal wear. I suspect that the previous owner that gave the car to them (another neighbor 3 houses down from them) had already put these pads in the car right before they gave it to them. I wanted to return the pads, because they weren't necessary. I went to 4 AutoZone stores, and none of them would take it back. Each one had a different excuse. 2 of them said that I have to go to their store when their manage is there on Monday, or Wednesday. I wanted to know why the stores don't have managers everyday of the week. They said that they give their managers a break, so they only have to work 2 days a week! Maybe they have other jobs, and this is pocket money for them. The stores had assistant managers there that can't make a decision on their own without the main mamager. This leaves me with brake pads that are covered by a 3 month money back guarantee, and 2 year exchange warranty. It sounds good on paper (or their computer screen), but doesn't put my money back into my pocket for them. It cost me 3 hours of running around, and gasoline just for these stores to tell me to come back during the week. Maybe there is a complaint phone # to call about this, but I don't know. Even if I call that #, I'm sure that they will just tell me to show my receipt to a manager in a store, and they will be "happy" to return them. They said that they didn't look new in one place. Another place said that they weren't 'worn down" enough to return. Another said that they weren't the correct one for that vehicle, even thought he pulled out another identical one from stock, and compared them in front of me. Another one said that I would have to go to another store first to exchange them, then I have to return them to the store that I bought them from originally. Who makes these rules?
